Given that hardly anyone will take their i8 to a track, the comparison and relative lap times are rather pointless, but as a road car for most people (including me) the i8 ticks almost all the boxes, certainly more than my 997 GT3 did.
Agreed. I think there are two kinds of people here: those who "get" the i8 and those who see it as a track/speed car because of the looks. The latter will have the reaction you see. It is not surprising. It is the same as someone who complains the lotus is uncomfortable on a long road trip!
