I don't think that's true.
Value is derived from what you get for what you pay. BMW normally offers things you simply can't get at the same price point from other manufacturers. Not just tech specs, but the luxury as well.
The problem with the i4 is that when you compare it to something like the polestar 2, which is a natural competitor, the edrive40 model is significantly slower with less power and without AWS, but better range, but more expensive comparably equipped.
It'll be interesting to see how the i4 edrive40 compares to the audi Q4 etron, that's a similar level of luxary, although you can get a preview of the powertrain with the id.4
