This isn't saying anything "new". It's not a new secret that you have to pay for a lot of things with German cars that you get standard in other brands - it's been like this for years. People who bought 3 Series when you could have got more car somewhere else will likely still buy a BMW EV over a Tesla. Why buy a 3er/C-Class/A4 when you could get a lot more with a Honda Accord, Lexus IS or Cadillac ATS? Why buy a 5er/E-Class/A6 and pay for leather and comfort access when you could buy a Lexus ES/LS, Cadillac CTS and get those things standard plus a bunch more?
At the end of the day, Tesla will do whatever Elon decides to do but long-term it's not going to do much to BMW, Mercedes or even Audi because the German 3 are still brands that people strive to own now with ICE and will continue to be an aspirational brand when they fully transition to full EV.
