"Tom Cruise gets new BMW supercar"

Just seen this on Fox news:

"IMF agent Ethan Hunt gets along pretty well with his bare hands in the “Mission Impossible” movies, but the super spy played by Tom Cruise is getting a little help from some new wheels in the fourth film in the series.
In conjunction with the release of the first trailer for “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” BMW has confirmed that its futuristic i8 plug-in hybrid supercar is one of the automaker's vehicles set to appear in the film. A clip from the trailer shows the car arriving at a ritzy hotel – possibly in Dubai where part of the movie is set – and Cruse’s co-star Paula Patton exiting its scissors-style passenger door.
The otherworldly two seat coupe is set to go on sale in 2013. Many details are still under wraps, but the i8 is expected to be constructed largely from lightweight carbon fiber, boast an all-electric range of 31 miles and deliver 62 mpg when operating in hybrid mode, thanks in part to its highly-efficient three-cylinder internal combustion engine.

Nevertheless, BMW says the all-wheel-drive supercar will be capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds, which is surely quick enough to get away from baddies driving gas-guzzling SUVs.
This isn’t the first time one of Cruse’s on-screen characters has gotten behind the wheel of a concept car. In the 2002 film “Minority Report” his District of Columbia Precrime Division Chief, John Anderton, drove the Lexus 2054, a pure fantasy designed specifically for the film.
We’ll have to wait another couple of decades to see if that one makes it into production."
