As we pointed out yesterday, BMW had a not so subtle hint in its press release highlighting its 2012 LA Auto Show lineup about "more BMW i news at the show," which we inferred as a possible clue regarding a debut of the recently rumored BMW i4 Concept.

BMW has just announced today (see below) that there will indeed by a new BMW i Concept Vehicle making its world debut at next week's LA show. If this turns out to be the i4 Concept, expect that it may be a two seater i8-like sports car, utilizing the i3's drivetrain.

PRESS RELEASE + Expand

A new BMW i Concept vehicle will make its world debut and the BMW i8 Concept Roadster will make its North American auto show debut at the 2012 Los Angeles International Auto Show on Wednesday, November 28th at the BMW Stand at 3:10 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. PST at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 South Figueroa Street) in Los Angeles. The new BMW i Concept and BMW i8 Concept Roadster vehicles are the next generation of vehicles from BMW i, BMW’s brand dedicated to sustainability and future mobility. In addition, BMW will unveil the BMW Concept K2 Powder Ride for cold weather sports enthusiasts.

The new BMW i Concept will join BMW i’s growing lineup of visionary concept vehicles which are purpose-built from the ground up as electric and hybrid electric and constructed primarily from lightweight carbon fiber. The first two vehicles under the BMW i brand, the BMW i3 and BMW i8 will come to market in 2013 and 2014, respectively. The BMW i8 Concept Roadster is an open-top two-seater featuring an athletic design and a sleek, low slung, silver and bright blue exterior. The i8 Concept Roadster operates with extremely low fuel consumption (78 mpg) and emissions output. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds on the way to an electronically governed top speed of 155 mph.
