Mine's been absolutely fine since the sensor was replaced but not sure if they did something else while it was in pieces.
The technician said the reading was off the chart so pretty conclusive the sensor or something connected was sending duff info to the computer - that's what makes me think they could just be doing a software work-around basically saying the readings are so far out that they can't be true.

Having said that, such a workaround could lead to a scenario where there was high but possible pressure in the system and you could get a fuel cap blowing out when you unscrewed it! Don't know if BMW would risk that - that's what the whole system is designed to avoid!
