I had the check engine light go on, and scheduled an appointment to have it checked--just don't want to be in the boondocks, relying on the REX and have it not available. I also got the notice about the
"Recall Campaign No. 17V-720
river Front Air Bag" In the Q&A it says "What will BMW Do? A: BMW will update the software for the driver's front air bag free of charge, which will take approximately one hour"
So there you have the story from BMW, No hardware, but software update to the driver air bag. There had been some post about the "hardware not available"--perhaps some front air bags do get changed--may depend on the model year and or serial number. Mine is a 2017. BTW: Got the same notice for the 2015 that was my prior i3 on lease.
It drives the same. This is probably why the car still works without the seat belt fastened. Great Job BMW.
