it's a great market plan. The reality, however, it that electric cars won't become a reality, at least in the USA, until mainstream America retakes the cities. When most people get to the point where they can live, work and play, most of the time, within a ten mile radius, electric cars will make a lot of sense. As long as everyone wants 3/4 acres and the suburban lifestyle, electric cars are going to need some kick ass batteries, and America is going to need some serious infrastructure for recharging them. And, hell, we can just barely keep the infrastructure we have in good working order (70% of the nation's bridges are in varying states of disrepair). And if you leave it to the private sector to establish that infrastructure, you'll pine for the days of $5 gas.
