To answer some questions posted here. Yes these have been approved for use in Germany now and 2017 for the US. They're going to reduce aerodynamic drag and eliminate blind spots. I am an i8 owner and can tell you that I don't like this look and couldn't care less about aerodynamics. But the car has some blind spots that you have to get used to so that may be a solution. I cannot see myself getting used to looking at the interior mirror and I also agree with the poster highlighting the challenges with far vs near projection, magic leap is definitely ahead of the pack........
