Original 120V EVSE is kept in the garage. Garage door rolls down over/on top of the charger cord with no issues. Check to ensure the weather seal is is "loose" enough and won't pinch the cord too much. Car has been plugged in through the rain with no issues.

Mines never seen indoors because the other cars occupy the garage space. The i3 is a daily driver so she stays outside.
It's been outdoors for over 2 years. Why the worry? |

Yeah I figured that was your concern. While I have indeed parked and charged it outside while it rained, I'm in SoCal and so it didn't rain all that hard and never snows

i3 parked outside and charged there since I got it. In England so it rains often enough. No problems at all.
The charger socket is weather-proofed. They could not sell/install it if it weren't. My other cars go in the garage, including i8. |

http://bmwi3.blogspot.com/2016/02/bm...now-cover.html I mostly park my i3 in the garage, but occasionally leave it outside for a few days at the airport parking lot. Expect 1-1.5% charge drop per night left parking outside, which is not a concern for home parking, but something to keep in mind if you plan to leave the car at the airport while going on a multi-week vacation. Other than that, snow/ice are your only other challenges. a
