Poll: Wiper streaking

I have now gone through two sets of wiper blades in one year. Both had the same issue of driver side streaking after about 2 months of infrequent use.

I keep reading the same anecdotes around these forums but have not seen the issue polled.

Never been an issue for me but I put Adams Glass Cleaner on my windows (all of them) right away. Will be re-applied as necessary. A joke to apply. Makes it so much easier to get dried bug guts off too.

iX...amazing wipers.

New i5....streaks and shuddering unless it is a torrential downpour.

I need the poll option for “I have the streaking but haven’t bothered to fix it yet”. It’s getting worse on the driver side no matter how much I clean the windshield and blade, but it’s a bit of a drive to a dealer to try to get it replaced and I haven’t gotten around to ordering replacements yet.

I feel the wipers were designed for right hand drive. I get that vertical residual streak just in my line of sight. Also it seems clear on the swipe to the left and then streaks on the return to base swipe.
I did get ceramic coating. Not sure if it was on the windshield

RHD car. First iX had the issue on the drivers side after a couple of thousand miles. New blades fixed it. Replacement iX no issues and 13k miles so far in 18 months.

I just wipe the edges with a paper towel. It lasts a bit and then I do it again.

I had this issue even with my brand new iX. Driver side wiper streaking right at the upper most area right in the middle of the driver view. I tested something and it worked really well. I removed the driver side wiper blade insert from the blade and flipped it over and reinstalled it. Immediate results. Literally wipes like it’s brand new again. Takes all of a minute. See results for before and after.
Worth a shot to try.

The wipers on this car are fantastic! I've had no such issues with ours, but I regularly use glass cleaner and apply Rain X.

You are a legend! I did this today. A bit tricky to get the blade cap off but once I installed the blade insert in reverse the streaking is gone!

No need to take off any piece of the wiper blade to get the blade out.

How did you get the insert out then since there are end caps at both ends on the blade?

Mine streaks but I have not done anything about it yet. Been meaning to try cleaning the blade.

Mine were really bad when I got the car. I tried all kinds of cleaning, including just wiping my entire windshield with rubbing alcohol. None of it worked. Got new blades from the dealership and it's been fine ever since.

You push the wiper inward toward the center, compressing it an inch or so and then pull it out of the open channel next to where the cap end is.

Update on this, the fix only lasted a couple weeks for me before the streaking returned in the same exact spot. Broke down and ordered a replacement set of blades, hopefully that fixes the issue.

That would indicate something on the glass - not the wipers (should have been in a different spot with the wipers reversed). I'd try scrubbing the glass with a good, ammonia-free glass cleaner, then trying again.

Driver side was streaking like crazy. Had them replaced after only 5500 miles. Now good
