How reliable is the 'secret menu' on battery health?
Hi all, I have a 1st edition 2018 i8 i.e. small battery, theoretical max usable capacity 5.2 kwh. 'Secret menu' (the one you access using the sum of the last VIN digits etc.) under 'tank' stably gives me 5.6 kwh. Means the battery is in really good health??
Asking because: how many miles the car predicts you'll do on battery is very much a function of your (recent) driving style, I often read around. Is the secret menu more reliable as giving info on the battery itself? F |

It’s a service menu for BMW technicians to access different parameters of the vehicle to determine vehicle status. I would assume it’s fairly accurate otherwise what would be the point of having a service menu?

I’ve been measuring my battery health for 4 1/2 years now.
5.2 kWh is supposedly a full capacity battery. Here are my measurements. 3-2021 5.4 kWh 6-2023 5.3 kWh 7-2024 5.2 kWh It appears that after nearly 10 years my 2015 i8 battery capacity is still at 100% |
