BMW I8 Wheel Sizes / Offsets / Tire Options
Maybe we need this kind of thread about what options do we have for the I8.
Please post your aftermarket wheel setup: brand, size, offset, tires. Pictures are welcomed |

I haven't purchased any new tires or wheels yet, but I've been looking at combinations specifically for autocross. If I do a square setup I can get Bridgestone Potenza RE71-R tires in 245/40R19 all around. Here in the US, Tirerack also has wheels that are 19x8 that will fit the i8. This is what I'm considering. I'm interested to hear if others have used this setup.

I will be opting for the ultra-lightweight BBS RI-D for summer tires, and the stock rims for my winter tires.
http://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1327678 I like the idea of moving the rear rubber to the front (245/40/20) and either 265/35 or 275/35 for the rear. I am not a fan of understeer, hence prefer a more balanced front/rear size. Also not a fan of unsprung weight, hence the 17 lbs. rims and relatively light tires.

I look forward to seeing pictures of that setup. Unfortunately for me, the tires that I prefer for autocross, the RE71R's, don't come in those sizes, so that's why I will need to go with 19" wheels. |

BBS likely has the FI or DI-R in 19" w appropriate offsets. Make sure you have clearance for the calipers.

Does anyone know of any wheels that happen to be light-weight and non-forged that will fit our cars? Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of having forged wheels, but my i8 is on a 3yr lease and I can't justify spending the 7-10K on a set of forged wheels and tires. Also looking to stick at 20" wheels, despite most of the aftermarket posts going 21" since it's a daily driver and Nj/NYC roads aren't too kind.

Anyone got an answer on this? I had a flat last night so might as well go as wide as poss on my standard rims, running 245/40/R20 at the moment on the rear.
