I like that mini passenger door, looks like they were inspired from the Mazda RX-7,8.

Perhaps it's too soon to tell but anyone know the expectations in terms of sales?

I'm wondering regarding the i3 REx version, will the engine be in the front or rear?

I'm sorry but this thing is not looking promising at all. What the hell where they thinking when they decided to stick that baseball bat sized thing into the side of the steering column???

Not to mention the hilarious $45k + price in the US.

+1

Hate it that BMW insists with this thing too. At least give the option not to have it. In every damn car.

Agreed, I've disliked the sore thumb screen since it appeared. As for hybrids, I don't see any perks at that price. More needs to be done to make energy saving cars more affordable.

keep in mind the cheverolet is a cheverolet, they are expected to be cheap. Where as BMW already has a pretty high price tag added to it just because it is a BMW. Excuse my spelling if i missed spelled cheverolet

At $40k, this is only a tool for the CAFE standards that Obama passed for manufacturers to adhere to by 20xx.

NO one would spend that change on a car that gets 100 miles, looks that hideous, and costs that much...

My understanding is the range extender increases the basic range of the eDrive well beyond 100 miles and accordingly moreover once the gas engine is part of the equation.

Perfect. Best descriptor (and the most honest) I've read.

I agree that hybrids such as the Prius and now this car limit their market appeal with the futuristic interior styling and weird exterior styling. My wife wanted a car with the best mileage available, as she keeps her cars a long time and felt she could justify the expenditure. After driving the Prius (which she was prepared to like because of the mileage), she was turned off by the "Jetsons" interior and the vehicle dynamics. Her opinion was that the interior would become dated very quickly - not good if you keep your car for 10+ years like her.

She went for the Audi A3 TDI instead, as she liked the size, interior/exterior styling, and the way it drove (MUCH better than a Prius). Cost was about the same as a well-optioned Prius, so the only downsides were the cost of diesel fuel vs. gasoline and VW/Audi's reputation for crummy reliability vs. Toyota.

BMW will have a tough sell if they market this car for over $30-35k in this country. Environmentally conscious buyers typically don't want to pay much more than that for a car, as it's like buying an appliance to most of them. I applaud BMW for taking the technological risks they have with the I3, but agree that they missed it on the styling and price.

Pros: it's a hybrid, has heads up display and navigation

Cons: looks like an ugly version of the Scion XB, instead of one iPad jammed into the dash you also get an ipad mini jammed into the dash as well. Gear selector is just too big.

Overall. Fail

Looks like an even uglier version of a Honda Fit with a gorge-eating problem.

I think that I'd rather spend 3K on a used Audi A2. They were ahead of their time, made from space-aged aluminum.

Finally, the Hollywood Prius owners can trade up. As one poster mentioned this has the potential to become the new "cool" Hollywood status symbol.

You can see a head up display in the first interior shot.

That car is so ugly not even Asians would buy it!
And let me tell you Asians buy some really ugly ass shit!
Have you seen skinny jeans? I mean really! WTF!
And don't get me started on that anime shit!

That car is so ugly it looks like it fell face first from the top of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down landed in a vat of acid and said ugly tree fell on it.....and then the ugly express crashed into the mess and there was a huge fire and no one cried. Not even the Asians…why?
Ah because it was an ugly car! And the Asian guys were too busy talking about how their skinny jeans were more skinny than the other Asians skinny jeans but all agreed that a anime was the shit.

God kill that thing with fire! Really! BIG BALLS OF FIRE!
