I could go into a pretty long worded answer, but to be brief:
1. Doesn't look that great as a whole, the back end particularly looks like a morphed Honda 2. Sounds terrible 3. Uses same cheap plastic and interior layout as other Acuras, it just doesn't feel nice at all. I specially left Acura (I use to buy MDX SUV's) because the interior of the last one was so bad. 4. For a "hybrid" it doesn't offer an E mode, just a quiet mode that's not too quiet. Performance was certainly better than the i8, but the car didn't have the same presence. Felt like a shiny new toy that tried to use complicated electronics to improve performance (not efficiency like the i8) but would be outperformed by much less complicated vehicles like mclaren 570, Porsche Turbo or my 458. |

The i8 is my extremely competent all-rounder, but when I want extreme visceral thrills I reach for the keys to my Lotus, which I guess will be similar to your Shelby in feel and sound |

No more of the i8 vs Porsche 911 Turbo argument...they just aren't comparable. The answer? Just get both. They are two of the most amazing machines you can buy for very different reasons.

i came from a gtr.... if you guys wanna talk about the power and unlimited mods/tune on that thing.....you cannot compare a car with raw power against something like the i8 which looks way more exotic, but definitely slower.... i got too many tickets from my gtr, thats why i sold it and picked up something more classy. so far i enjoy it, but the only thing that pisses me off is the power.... i drive my cars pretty hard, and with the i8, when i do, i attract other fast cars that always wants to race.... and unfortunately the i8 really isnt going anywhere ! ... either way, i chose luxury over power i guess.

Racing on the road in a car with even the i8's power will be lethal. Not a good idea at all.
I've tried a modded GTR on track, and it was pretty rapid, but also very easy to drive fast. Much too quick to push on road IMO. I managed to smoke the brakes in just 3-4 laps though, even though it had race pads. Much too heavy a car. Anyway, the point is that the i8 is plenty quick enough for the road |

So where is the extra weight coming from in the USA version. And what weight reduction mods have proven effective?
