too little too late. everyone has forgotten about the i8 now and its a dated car. 2009 technology, today! (minus the roof)

Instead of spending resources on the development of this roadster, the should've spent the money on redesigning/improving the regular i8. This car barely sells. They should make it more powerful so that it can compete with exotics.

It's supposed to get a LCI facelift, with an improved engine too.

They are trying to push the sub-brand with the i Performance thing but I see it's going nowhere. Total failure and BMW knows it. |

You can always tell when the M fanatics who have never driven an i8, or even a truly fast car, get on here thanks to the thread being on the front page

The market says it all. No one really wants them. Probably will go down as one of the underrated cars in history. |

It's similarly matched to the present M3/4 and slower than the GTR. ?This car is not about the race track,? says i8 project director Dr Carsten Breitfeld. ?We are not talking about the Nurburgring. We are never going to quote a figure [for a lap time].? ?The statement for this car is real world [driving] and in the real world nothing gets close [for performance and efficiency]. It is a clever real-world sports car.? |

I've said it before and i'll say it again, unless youve driven one, at least for a few days, you'll never get it. Scared the beejesus out of my mate who has an Aston DBS in it. I also dont think it needs to be any quicker, its a mighty fast, incredibly efficient road car, the fact that people dont get it, that its original, that huge sums were spent on its development, that its relatively rare and that it looks stunning means its got future classic written all over it. Or you can follow the crowd and buy a 911, thats safe, or a Jag, thats loud, or an R8, thats well thats not as good looking or special as the original and has an engine rooted in the stone age, etc etc. I'm happy with my choice, feel free to make your own 😊

Not at all. Nor am I saying the i8 is a "truly fast car". In fact I stated it is not even suited to be a track car in a separate thread.
My comment is that M cars are not that quick either, and most M fanatics have never driven a truly fast car, yet they talk the talk as if the M cars were truly special and the i8 a terrible car. Shouldn't surprise you that this kind of thing will get a response in this section of the forum. |
