Coding the vehicle sound generator VSG01
I have the new VSG noise in my i3s-20 that make a sound like a space-shuttle at low speed.
The idrive menu option has been hidden on eu models but I managed to enable it with bimmercode. VSG_HMI_MENUE = aktiv (0x01) I want the sound to be off and but every time i start the car it defaults to on Does anyone know how to set the VSG noise to default off ? Can the whole vsg01 be removed in VO? maybe wav file removed/replaced ? |

You can set the value "Tuning mode" to "yes" with the bimmer code in expert mode, then the pedestrian protection is always completely switched off, in the normal menu you switch the pedestrian protection to on, so that no bulb appears in the display, and still the pedestrian protection is permanently switched off by the value of the variable "Tuning mode".
I have tried the different values for a longer time to get the right one, because I didn't want to have the annoying sound or the annoying bulb in the display. Greetings from germany.

I'm not talking about the pedestrian protection system warning noise.
I talkning about the vehicle sound generator that has a speaker outside the car and sound like a spaceshuttle at lowspeed (0-30km/h). It's called "Audible Pedestrian Protection" in the idrive menu |

The sound I mean is the "Audible Pedestrian Protection" ("spaceshuttle at lowspeed"). Please follow my procedure, then this sound is switched off. When I wrote "pedestrian protection" I meant the "Audible Pedestrian Protection".

My wife just got the 2020 version in the US. It's her 3rd i3 and the first one with this VSG pedetrian system. I've tried to disable it in the following ways:
- make menu item active (cannot find menu item option anywhere, neither in VSG nor HUD settings) - changed wav file (tried all wav files, none are silent) - changed it to tuning mode (sound still playing) - changed the Table value (tried all 16 settings, plays slightly differently, but never goes away) Any other ideas? |

Does anyone know what the other VSG settings like Baureihe, Start-up Sound, or Antrieb do? I messed around with it and couldn't hear much of a difference.

HU_NBT/3001/VSG_HMI_MENUE->aktiv (enables menu in iDrive) VSG/3000/VSG Configuration_7_7_15->aktiv (saves last setting) From what I can tell through experimentation, Tuning Mode only lowers the volume of the sound, but otherwise doesn't do much. Played around with other settings and couldn't make VSG do any other cool things. I do know that Wave File 4 sounds like a pissed off ghost.

Here are all my VSG and relevant NBT settings, you need to code both NBT and VSG. VSG/3000/Start-up Sound -> yes VSG/3000/VSG Configuration 7_7_15 -> aktiv VSG/3000/Wave File -> Wave File 4 HU_NBT/3001/VSG_HMI_MENUE -> aktiv

I was able to mostly silence this annoying sound
Here's what I was able to code on my 2020 i3:
VSG/3000/Start-up Sound -> yes (was NO) VSG/3000/VSG Configuration 7_7_15 -> aktiv (was NICHT AKTIV) VSG/3000/Wave File -> Wave File 4 (was Wav file 1) VSG/3000/Tuning Mode -> YES (was no) HU_NBT/3001/VSG_HMI_MENUE -> aktiv (was NICHT AKTIV) I still have that wailing ghost sound when the car goes in reverse. I'm actually good with that because I feel like it is necessary when backing out of parking spaces. The noise is still there when the car is in drive but it is significantly quieter.' Thanks to everyone who posted above. |

Unplug the front and rear speakers...
Just wondering...anyone try unplugging the front and rear speakers?
I’ve never coded with Bimmercode - or anything else for that matter. I’ll likely jump in and try for things like auto folding mirror settings, etc. Are the code settings easy to change with the app? Does anyone have any further updates to completely turn off the sound in drive and reverse? Thanks |

The VSG is not just a speaker. It's a smart device that receives messages from the car's network telling it what sound files to play. If you unplug it (it's in the front right corner of the car just behind the bumper) the computer trying to communicate with it will likely detect a fault.
