Finding new i3's is hard..why?
I am in the Seattle area. Considering my first EV. Surprised that none of the local dealers appear to have any new i3's in stock. Is there a shortage going on? Thx.

My understanding:
1. BMW was going to end production under the previous CEO, but the new CEO has decided to extend the run. 2. Production is going mostly to Europe where the environmental and tax incentives are stronger than in North America. 3. Production has been constrained by the pandemic, though BMW will have more capacity with the end of i8 production. 4. Demand in the US has not been strong, so dealers have been reluctant to place orders. That's my take at least. |
