Just one quick comment about the range: Rim/Tire choice has a big impact on range according to BMW itself. The 19's without performance tires add about 40-60 Kms of range. All the cars being tested in these videos have the bigger 20 inch rims with performance tiers, and that's the worst setup you can have if range maximization is what you favour the most. Adding to that the fact that most these guys are hammering the car on the autobahn, it's not surprising their range figures are nothing like what BMW has announced.

CarWow just released their video. I'd post it, but that just gives the OP the opportunity to add it to post 1 without duplicating it.

So charge it at home, that's the thing about EVs, you don't need to travel somewhere to get it filled up. You charge it at home, and only use fast chargers when you're actually going somewhere you need to charge to get there or to get home after.

That was the one I was most interested to see, I always enjoy Matts reviews, he's usually pretty direct and no BS (his jokes aside, which I like anyway usually).
FWIW I'm pretty certain Thomas over at Autogefuhl is a big Audi fan, I even commented that on one of his videos and he denied it, but he alway seems to be all over anything Audi. I guess in a way that's no difference to Joe Achilles, but he's more a of a BMW focussed channel anyway (or at least used to be). |

Becoming a tech item has always been my biggest concern with EV's. The tech ages so much faster than in years past.

I take it you haven't had much time behind the wheel of a performance-oriented EV? |

I think all these 'transition' cars are going to look very dated once the next generation of from-the-ground-up BMW EVs comes to market. By 'transition', I mean where they just take a design based on an ICE +gearbox +drivetrain and simply drop-in EV components instead: often leaving empty space and completely redundant hangovers from the ICE like a high, long bonnet.
It's a personal view, of course, but if I'm buying an EV at a price premium, then I want it to be redesigned from the ground up, like the i vision circular.

I keep seeing 5000lbs thrown around, but several video reviews mentioned the car weighing 2.2 tons, which would be 4400lbs. Wonder which one is correct?

I'd rather not go back to the cab forward designs of the 1990's. BMW never went through that phase because they were RWD only. Thank god.

In the Autogefühl review, Thomas reported on EVs there will be no "M Performance" / "M" distinction.

I am surprised at how the new styling up front works much better here than on the ICE models. (G8x and m440). I don't know why but the big grills look better. Flatter and no big gaps? Anyhow, sounds like the car is going to be a nice ev. I feel like I am going to need one more ICE car before I jump but not 100% anymore. This has peaked my interest. I really like our current Leaf plus for day to day driving and think this would be a fun replacement for that. We'll see in a year.
