2019 i8 roadster battery replacement

My 2019 i8 roadster with only 10k miles started to complain about "drivetrain error".

Took it in service and they just texted me:

"Good morning, we did hear back this morning, and we will be replacing 3 battery cells and the wiring that goes between them. I have rush shipped the parts, but they are coming from Germany, so it could take up to 3-4 weeks. If they arrive any early, but I have them on the highest priority I can. "

It seems premature the batteries to die so soon.
Now I have second thoughts on buying the car at lease end…

Thanks for the information. Well that sucks. You must have some weak batteries installed.
On the good side, you'll have new batteries so you can buy it ones lease ends...

Yes. And my i8 is 7 years old, with no Batteries issues.

It's actually 10 years since the car was bought first, even the replaced ones; from service:

"Good morning, sorry for the delay I checked on the warranty with BMW and the new batteries do not have an additional warranty of 10 years they would just fall under the original coverage dates. If you have any questions just let me know. I also check on the parts, but we are still showing 3-4 weeks."
