Fuel economy simply can't figure into ownership costs when spending even half this money for me the i8 would probably need to clock up 1,000,000 miles to pay for itself. It's about making a car that people want to buy emotionally... to introduce a new wave of technology to the Brand (and therefore the premium car segment).. I'm sure the i8 will sell well enough.. although I really doubt BMW are expecting to make a profit on the cost of the VisionED program (may the part cost of each car though?) at this stage. |

If you guys haven't read this article (http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...7080555679.htm) from Business Week 2 months ago. BMW's i division is the future of BMW. The new CEO even hired Fischer and Albright to quell and persuade internal petrol head to join in the new direction. (Fischer on one head was a left-wing radical socialist and may still be) It's a major direction change so do not be so shock when next generation of M cars appear lackluster as major investment is going towards pursuit of efficiency and social responsibility.
