I've spoken to owners who always seem to complain about the small capacity of the batteries.

Seen a few. One was parked outside of my workplace for people to admire. It definitely turned heads... I have a few snaps on my phone if you all are interested. Seen a few in the wild as well.

We get a few fancy cars outside our building on occasions - even the car that broke the land speed record.

What a bunch of wimps! I turn 70 next week and I enjoy my i8 immensely.

While it was on order I saw one at the Woodland Hills' Exotic Euro car store (trying to sell one for $100,000 over MSRP) and got in -- with great difficulty. It was almost impossible for me to get out!

So when mine arrived a couple of weeks later I was uncertain whether I wanted it. But I was getting it for MSRP and I really liked the idea of a future car. So I learned how to get in (pretty easy now) and out (ugh, still not easy but I can do it without looking drunk). And it's been worth it.

Its interesting I do not share your opinions on the interior. I am generally not a fan of BMW interiors (disclaimer) and the interior of the comparably priced M6 looks very old fashioned to me. But the interior of the i8 is one of the most pleasant interiors of any car I have been in in a very long time.

It is the opposite of flashy, but makes for a very inviting driving cockpit.

Ditto. Not sure where the aforementioned comments are coming from. The i8 interior, while seemingly less cluttered than quite a few sports cars, seems more inviting an purposeful. Although the Lamborghini interior has been one of my favorites, I have begun to appreciate the scale and design aspects of the i8 cockpit like interior. Having owned a series of Italian exotics and german sports cars, I've come to appreciate the well executed subtle design flow and layout. The only gripe as it pertains to the aforementioned is the lack of functional utility when it comes to the interior storage compartments.

As yw says, storage space is very limited. The design is beautiful in a minimalist sort of way.

I use the back cupholder "area" to hold things, using the small rubber pad that came with the car and which replaces the cupholders when you pull them out. (I usually put my iPhone 6+ there.) Everything else goes on the passenger seat or one of the otherwise useless (for me) back seats.

It would be nice to have a storage pocket in a door. But I'll live with what we've got.

Either showing off or doesn't care and wants to be very close to the door. My car always goes at the end of the parking lot and it's only in $50K's range.

You don't even have to ask to post pics! Just post them suckers lol... There are some rich people on this base as well. People driving Corvette stingrays and M4's and M5's. I heard at one time someone was driving an Ferrari. Defiantly an officer or high payed civilian.

Seeing how me and you live in Cali... If I were to come down there, you should defiantly take me on a drive in your i8 lol. Like I said age means nothing. A lot of people are kids at heart haha.

I should clarify what I meant. Loved the interior. Just hated that cheap looking, out of place climate control panel. Just looked like something that needed revising to match the rest of the unique styling the vehicle offers.

I feel the same way about my 4 series GC. Not enough internal storage compartments. Especially coming from a Honda Accord. That's my biggest complaint.

I had originally posted this in the 4 series forum. Maybe he or she was referring to how they didn't think the i8 was worthy enough for a post in that forum... Idk correct me if I'm wrong OP.

Just wanted to applaud some of folks in here that have the i8. It's not a cheap car at all. I hope to one day be as finically set off as you all are.

Bigger/more batteries = more weight = worse handling, performance, economy, wear & tear etc etc.

As an owner, the last thing I want is more battery weight. BMW got the electric range spot on IMHO. Just enough to be useful for short trips and stop-start traffic.

The I-division got so much of the car absolutely spot on. The important things.

It's only incidental items they got wrong, such as lack of memory seats etc.

They are so different it is near impossible to compare. Tesla is a comfy sedan. The i8 is like driving something that came back through time...
