You haven’t gotten rid of me just yet! They still have some numbers to crunch to get me to a level where I’m comfortable with the lease terms. As of right now, they’re giving me $2,500 off MSRP plus the $7500 lease credit from BMW FS. They are giving me 83K for my trade-in on my iX M60 which is $3k to $4k more than everyone else. I have a lot of history with this particular dealership, so I’m hoping it works out in my favor. They still need to trim about $200 off a month before I pull the trigger.

Nice! I was expecting to hear about the new G60. The XM took me by surprise.

Enjoy the ride!

Can you describe the driving experience compared to your iX please? And I'm shocked you're only getting $2500 off MSRP - Thought more like $25,000 the way the XM has been selling...

The 2024s are just now coming out, so they’re never going to discount until they sit on the lot for a while. Secondly, this is the XM Label which is limited to 500 globally. Considering that they just started arriving to dealers this week across the country, they’re really not going to discount this soon - especially on this particular model. It appears that most dealerships are only getting one, but of course that’s subject to change at any moment.

They’re not letting anyone in test drive this one, but I did test drive the regular XM base model and it feels more like an M car. Very responsive suspension. I will definitely have more fun driving this thing over the iX. If you’re looking for comfort, the iX wins for sure - especially with air suspension.

Like any iX built after March, or any XM built after August, it will come with the newer MGU 22 head unit. It also comes pre-installed with iDrive 8.5 with Quick Select and Highway Assistant. Being that the XM is a hybrid, I will be much more comfortable going on road trips and highway assistant will be a very useful feature.

I thought you mostly drove short distances in an area with bumpy roads? EV with air suspension seems like a better fit then a PHEV with no air.

Very true. I purposely don’t drive out of town with my IX because I don’t want to deal with public charging - at all. I am super impatient already, so I know better than to even try it based on most people’s experience. It’s not really range anxiety than it is the irritation of dealing with the public charging infrastructure.

All good and relevant points. We have loved our plug in RAV4 Prime. Every year we take it on one 5,200 mile trip. We have no range anxiety when we make that trip lol. Best vehicle we have ever had! Day after day we drive around without using any gas; some months without one gas station stop.

At the same time we are not buying our iX for what 2024 will bring; yes that 5,200 mile trip in our iX will be a little challenge but we are looking forward to that different experience, and second with Tesla committing to 3000 more Magic Docks in 2024 and and additional 4,000 level 2 chargers next year too, the range issue even on trips will get less and less for us all — and always will be non existent for us 11 months per year when we are no on road trips.

VG, this is an exciting moment for you, perhaps making this change. What I myself do in similar change moments, is to sit back in a quiet place and imagine my life at least a month after I have made the change to my new vehicle, that is how is it working out and now that my euphoria of my brand new vehicle is moving into my rear view mirror, how is this new vehicle working for me on a daily basis. Perhaps that might be a usual data-point-imaging for you today???

Most important is what you wish and decide.

Thanks man. There’s a small chance this is not going to work out, so if that happens I will be perfectly happy keeping my iX. These current lease incentives have totally killed the resale value. Man, what a great time to lease an iX.

Well that's certainly one way of getting iDrive 8.5...

Spout that sentiment if you wish. Guess my coming over today in my C8 Z06 to take you on a screamingly-fast, curvy, country, cornering drive, with lunch on me, is not welcomed.

Had anM235i as a loaner recently. The noise and pops and farts were a hoot after the silence of theIX. It grew tiring after a few days. I can't go back to non phev ICE but the occasional bit of time in a noisy beast breaks the monotony.

I don't know what to say to you except basically I wish you good luck no matter how it turns out. I do have to ask, why would you want to go back to gasoline. I know it's a hybrid and I had a Prius prime for 3 years and living in a small town I drove all electric mostly. However; its not good for hybrids to be driven all electric all the time because the ICE needs to be started up and run regularly. The other thing for me is I have been using Electrify America and while they are less friendly by far than Tesla Superchargers I believe it won't be long before we can use Tesla's network with an adapter. When I charge the BMW at EA I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes, although I have found that several of their outlets in the station were out of order. The other thing for me is I find free DC fast charging in other locations when I search for CCS1 locations near wherever I am.

I am excessive compulsive too and the one thing that would push me over to buying another new car so soon is your damaged sunroof. Question is that the last straw that made you decide to do this so soon.

No matter I hope you are happy with your XM.

It’s not looking good so far. I’m having a hard time getting any insurance company that will actually insure it. Progressive Insurance has a hard limit of $150,000 per vehicle and the rates I’m getting from the other other big players are excessively high. I haven’t even gotten the final numbers from the dealer yet, but I’d say we’re probably probably below 50-50 on this actually happening at this point.

Consider it's a $200K car could you just insurance for the first $150K and self-insure the rest? Consider it a $50K deductible if it's stolen! I wonder what all the rich athletes do in Houston who own $150K+ super cars?

Also, crazy idea for $200K you could own two iX M60s! Maybe you could a buy a 2024 iXM60 with the new head unit and get custom sport seats installed to your liking? I know a guy on this forum who could do the job for you!?

BMWFS has strict rules on how you must insure the car. Nice idea, but no can do.

I wonder if you could put the money up in a bond, like MSDs? There should be some creative solution to allow you to lease and take advantage of the $7,500 tax credit and still get insurance done!

If you normally need to provide proof of insurance to your finance guy to take possession of your vehicle where you are (that is the case here) then you can ask him to look at the files of other customers who got an XM (I cannot possibly imagine that that is a long list) and tell you the insurance companies they used.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works with insurance companies. Trust me, I tried when I spoke to Progressive last night.. As soon as the underwriter writes the policy, it will end up getting canceled because they go by MSRP and replacement value.
