Recently there was someone in a German forum with a late 2021 IX 40 (with the small battery) with 180.000 km, and he mentioned that even with the small battery at this mileage he could not find any reduction in the range the car was getting when compared to new. I am sure these cars will be good for many many kilometers... |

You car data report can be asked in your BMW garage account, which you should have created when you got the car and BMW concession should have linked your car to your account, on that website you can push a link, that will generate a report, it can takes 48 hours or so, and as soon as it is ready they will send an email. You can then login and download the report. The remark was in regards to UK not being part of the EU, it could lead to problems in regards to user privacy, hence BMW could have decided not to offer that functionality, but of course it is ;-) /s |

I was anticipating a site I could log into and not something that could be accessed by "Only persons who need the information to provide BMW ConnectedDrive Services".
I've had BMW connected vehicles during the several years prior to our Independence Day and beyond and haven't ever had access to a "BMW Garage Account". Perhaps that's my failing/oversight or it's always been unavailable here. I will make enquiries. |

I bought my $82k X5 new for $72k and traded it 3 years later for $51k with 49k miles. Conversely I bought my iX just about 1.5 years ago for $118k and I'll be lucky to sell it today for $50k with 21k miles. Lease the iX, don't buy it ... run far far away from purchasing this thing. |

But 1.5 years ago was probably the worst time to buy any car.

Still doesn’t negate the fact that this thing is a depreciating nightmare whether I paid sticker or got 10% off … an ICE bmw with $118k sticker would be worth more than this ev!

That being said, IMHO, I don’t believe the iX is a $100-120k car. Period. It was just introduced during the height of vehicle price inflation / low supply. So BMW priced it very high. It’s easily a $75-95k vehicle.

The M5 is a good example of a desireable, expensive German car's depreciation, which substantially depends on condition, mileage and specs. But ballpark, a 2022 M5 equivalently optioned with expected mileage compared to a 2024 model, wet finger average has lost about 40% - 50% of its value, more or less, across the board. You can obviously find more expensive and less expensive year models, and option comparisons are difficult given model improvements, but as stated, to set expectations, ballpark.

IOW you are saying that you actually put your car on the market and the highest offer you received was in the 50s? Or are you speculating again? I'd like to stick to facts without bringing in opinions or confirmation bias.

My advice: lease the iX, don't buy it. Doesn't matter what year/market you bought it in / looking to buy it now ... advice is the same. Car is way overpriced and obnoxious rate of depreciation compared to any other luxury BMW I have owned in the last 20 years, and I've had many. And to satisfy you for reality in the NJ market ... here's the state of affairs for the iX ... not going to waste my time to drive it into CarMax to give you a 2nd proof of reality |

They offer you less than the car's actual value in order to sell it to someone else and make money off of the transaction. Depreciation is not calculated against a trade in value but rather what the car is worth to a private buyer. You are not the first to claim that the iX is depreciating faster than "normal" but each time anyone's looked at actual cars listed for sale to support that statement, the numbers don't add up to what you are saying. Each time the person making the statement is using numbers like yours or from a trade in which are supposed to be lower than actual market value. From what I've seen, it depreciates at more or less the same rate as any other BMW at this price point. The last time I put in any significant effort to check(months ago), I think the iX was within 1-2 % of what a similarly priced X5 was depreciating at based on cars listed for sale, not trade in values. |
