That dent seems to be on the hood only, not on the kidney. Should make it fairly easy to determine the exact height of the other car's bumper (or trailer hitch). How big is that garage of yours? Any chance of narrowing it down?

I assume it would be isolated to my area. It's assigned spots. I have 2-3 ideas.

How good are you at reading body language? Tell them you've measured it and you want to know if they had noticed anything. Your insurance wants to send a claims adjuster and he will be very particular about potential "candidates" because then they would turn to that person's liability insurance provider. See how they react.

V sorry to see this.

I had an incident a few months back which urged me to fit a dashcam. Although a dashcam won't prevent accidents, at least you'll be able to see what happened...

Disappointed and sorry to hear about this.

A few years back, some spineless village idiot backed into my parked car and then scurried off without leaving a note. The hood and bumper damage required the car be shipped to SoCal for carbon fiber work. Big hassle. Didn't see it for nearly a month. Hopefully in your case, the downtime will be substantially less.

Since this incident occurred within your complex, check and see if your paint markings are left on the bumper or hitch of any of the other cars within your designated parking area. Someone needs to own up to their mistake and especially for their lack of integrity.

Selfish people suck.
It would be nice if the police would investigate, or your insurance co.
Nail the jerk.

Years ago my BMW was in the shop and my dealer gave me a loaner. I had to drive it to San Francisco from L.A. with wife, nanny and baby in tow as the wife was shooting some pick ups on a TV show she was in.

After four days we checked out of the hotel and came home. While at my house I noticed that the car had a huge, deep long dent on the right side, about 1 1/2 feet from the ground, from just behind the front bumper all the way to the rear bumper. Since I had only driven the car to and from San Francisco the damage had to have happened in the hotel's garage. (We had a car and driver from the production company while in San Francisco.)

I called my insurance company but also called the hotel and asked to speak to the garage manager. I never heard anything after that.

About three months later I called my insurance company to ask what had happened. "Oh, the Fairmont garage sent us a check. We insisted reviewing their surveillance tapes and the guy who first took the car from you when you checked in drove it into a guard rail."

Getting back to you -- what happened to you sucks. I hope you can figure out what asshole did it and hold him or her accountable.

Does it have a battery pack or is it hard wired?

Good question. I'd hope they run off their own batteries when the car is parked, which they recharge when the car is running and can supply power. Anything else would seem a little silly.

Dumb question, but does the DR470-2CH come with two physical cameras? One for the front and one for the rear? Their website is a little confusing, they have a page for "DR470-2CH & DR430-2CH", but it seems like you only need one or the other to have two cameras.

I use a battery pack that is hard wired to a fuse in the car.
