Anyone tried powder coating the Turbine wheels?

We have seen a lot of custom wheels posted on here. Some of which are pretty nice.

However, they are all very expensive, so I was wondering if anyone has tried powder coating the "standard" i8 Turbine wheels?

Any pictures or thoughts on this? Even a photoshopped white i8 with Turbine wheels in matching blue would give a good idea of how it would look.

I suspect it would suit the white car in particular.

That wheels look horrible on a dark colored car ,if the car was blue then those wheels hadn't looked at that much out of place

personally I think coloured wheels look awful. Excluding black of course.....
A wheel is a fine piece of precision engineering, why cover it with paint ? Metal finishes always look good, but please, for the love of god, no colours....

I agree. Somehow, it reminds me of something being choked that should be light a free-breathing. To me, paint adds "weight" - in the optical sense, not physically - to the wheels. That makes it look wrong.

I don't agree with the powder coat, too much colour density but paint adds grams.

I love the hre blue/white turbine with lip. I think on a white car this looks amazing.

So I would paint the front face of the turbines in the blue.

Opinions?

I don't have the turbine wheels, but here is a pic of my "W spoke" style 407, I had them powder coated in gloss black.

Actually, that looks good

I'm thinking that painted wheels could really only work on a white i8 perhaps.

That's what I was wondering. Perhaps someone with Photoshop skills could give us an idea of how the Turbines would look on a white i8?

I think the i8 does not take this sort of modifications too well. The car is so avant garde. The base product has been honed and is well balanced.

The standard finish of the wheels is exceptional, why mess around with it?

Blue or black do not work imo.

The only thing that may work would be to repaint only the painted parts of the wheel in the body colour. Leave the polished alloy bit well alone.

ok, I have no skill with Photoshop elements, but did a VERY quick & dirty recolour of my wheels.

Looks odd IMO.

Actual car.

I think if you made the silver face on your standard wheel matt black powdercoat and the bit that is currently gloss black ...make them the gloss blue that might give a nice contrast

Perhaps, but I tried recolouring the black parts, it was well beyond my photoshop ability
