Nice review...
I like how he goes into great length driving and describing the various modes, not just sport mode. I feel like I got a good sense of how seamless the transition is when the Turbo-3 kicks in once you mash the throttle in Comfort Mode. Good stuff, thanks for posting! |

Great post, thanks for sharing. These video reviews are particularly informative, not to mention how much more effectively they convey the reviewer's sense of delight while driving the car. "Junior La Ferrari": I kind of like that moniker.

That's Steve Sutcliffe, the guy I mentioned in the other thread about the Autocar review (he wrote the Autocar article):-http://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...11&postcount=3
I also quite like the way he presents things |

Like Steve very much, and how he presents a car.
I'd really like to see this car pushed hard on a track, that's a video I'd like to see, if there anybody that has yet to really pushes the car to the extreme. |

i can only imagine what it would be fitted with an n54/55 engine. that would be bonkers.
would you guys rather pay more to make this car 500hp and 650lbft of torque with a bigger engine and wider wheels? that would be sick. |

At the end of the day, this is not a track car, it s a GT car...remember the tires are optimized for fuel efficiency, which is going to compromise the grip. Not all cars can be a 918, but this one costs a lot less as well. |

If someone is interested in more track oriented sports car in the same price range. The next NSX will handily beat the i8. |

What a fantastic car. But I think this specific generation of i8 is a loss leader. Of course the R&D involved in it, will be very profitable as I see no problem in implementing that technology on non iBMW cars. For example the Carbon Fiber compound, steering, displays, lighting, suspension, etc… A very smart move by BMW to be on top of technology in their entire line.

Fantastic, almost space age car. Really don't fancy the light colours though. Dark blue or especially the black does the job for me.

Really interesting that Steve likes the i8 so much. He gave the new M3/4 a mediocre review, and a lot of people claimed that he was simply anti-BMW. Clearly not. I was also really impressed with how much he "got" this car. So many people miss the point entirely, pointing out that it's expensive, but not as fast as "Car X". They always conveniently forget that the i8 can get 95 MPG. There's also a non-quantifiable factor about the i8. It's made of plastic and carbon fiber for crying out loud. No, the economics of using those materials won't pay for the extra expense of using them, but it's so cool! Why can't we do cool shit just for the sake of saying we can?

I am still a bit disappointed that BMW changed the headlight styling on this car as the other headlights were better looking with proper two squared halo led's and the fact that the steering does not give much feedback and tire are way too skinny for car like this. Other than that i8 is becoming one of my more favorite cars as it sounds nice and looks great inside and out.
