There are other 3-4 i3s in my neck of the woods, but again, we are heavily outnumbered by Model S's. a

I was the first one in my neighborhood to have one and now there are 3. Still outnumbered by Tesla's as well. When my lease is done, I also plan on getting a Tesla.

Woo hoooo ! Thank god I didn't buy outright! That customers choice turned out to be a good option. Won't be looking at the teslas myself as I find them looking old the design is long in the tooth, if I was in my 50's maybe . Interior is horribly bland as well. Just my opinion but not drinking the cool aid. Not bad for their first car but it's just aged now and all their new stuff looks like the old stuff. Technically the i3's do outnumber the teslas in our neighborhood, and one of the guys that has one for his daily also has a Carrera GT an M5 and a Ferrari 458. Lucky dude! |

I'm in the Melrose area of LA, so there are a lot. On my street I've seen at least 4 i3s, and then for the folks that want to spend the big money, a few Tesla model Xs and Ss. A few more sprinkled around the neighborhood as far as I can tell. Most aren't in garages and are plugged in in the drive way.
It's definitely great in the city!

I have two i3's myself in my little town on the Central Coast of CA....but around us there are about 12 of us...and about 25 teslas....I had a tesla stop at our charging station at our dealership and it looked nice, but I sat in it and it did not feel premium. Nice--but not 100k nice. My i3 Giga interior looks far more premium and future forward than the tesla.

I test drove a Model S last month, mostly for fun and to have first hand experience with Tesla (lovely car, but too big for my needs, BTW). Tesla dealer ran the financials on a hypothetical i3-REX trade-in, and my $47+K MSRP i3 with $29.6K 24-month residual was worth $17-18.5K at that time (trade-in quotes from CarMax and two other sources). Likely much less in 10 months when the lease ends. Obviously, I am keeping the i3 for the next 10 months to close out the lease, which is way cheaper than then $11-12K bath I would have to take to get out of it early. Even subtracting the $7.5K Federal credit, the car still is vastly subsidized by the 63% 24 month residual rate. In reality, the residual value is closer to 30-35%! a

In fact I've heard lots of buzz around my company how the car cheap resale value now has their interest peaked. Before it was to expensive but to get one below 20k with so low miles their now reinvesting their interest. All in all I was happy with the outcome as with all my discounts I really didn't get burned 50k dollar car with 10k off from the dealer and 7500 from the gov, 5k trade and the state discount made the car around 28k so after 3 years if they can take another 10k off ill buy two!! Can't argue for that cash! It's sad really as what the car is about is great but I think people can't give up certain things when it comes to their cars right now so the electrics are a nice to have luxury and not a requirement for a lot of Americans. So far it's my favorite BMW, probably eye the next gen i8 at some point. |

Have only seen one other in our town! and dont see many about generally.
However I hear that they are popular as commuter cars for those living outside London (no congestion charge) and cheaper than a train season ticket! We also love ours - great for town driving - and can take a lot with the seats down too.

Alas, I drove the M3 today, so there are still only two i3s on the lot this week. Next week there will be three. a
