BMW i8 Warranty Period (UK)
Hi all, I bought a BMW i8 and shipped it over to Malta from the UK. The date of first registration of my i8 is September 2014.
Can anyway tell me what the warranty period is on the car? Should there be any warranty documents that accompany the car? Quire frankly I don't know whether the car is still covered by warranty or not, and for how long. Many thanks for your help. |

Should be three years or (I think) 100k miles whichever is soonest.
The battery has an 8 year warranty (subject to all sorts of clauses no doubt). Might be worth getting in touch with BMW UK to get confirmation, especially on the battery. Not sure if moving to Malta makes a difference though...

Thanks a lot NGR.
I just got my reply from BMW UK. As you well mentioned the warranty period is 36 months but the third year of the BMW Retailer Warranty is only valid provided the vehicle is registered in the United Kingdom. Also written here: https://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/o.../warranty.html Sucks that the car barely has 1000 miles and is already out of warranty Anyway I still love the i8 |

Thanks for the link, I don't have paperwork with mine but it's still in the Uk and obviously less than 3 years old so not a problem a the moment.
Bit of a bummer on being out of warranty, these are complicated cars with lots of new tech - is there anyway to pay to keep the warranty going? I know I'll be doing that when mine hits 3 years, even if it's reliable because re-sale could be impossible without a BMW warranty!

I'm in contact with iBMW in Sicily right now (no i-certified centre in Malta yet) and they said that they'll be offering an extended warranty proposal. Hoping for the best.
