The electric power doesn't die. The electric motor has its own alternator, actually it's a separate 15hp motor, and will keep the battery charged during spirited driving at all times.

Road & Track has put out a small article which complements the instrument tests posted in the beginning of this thread.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...i8_first_test/

Note that while they mention the 2nd electric motor as having 8hp, they omitted the fact that, more importantly for the car's performance, it produces 37 ft-lb of torque.

It may flag a little after 60mph in comparison with my previous FF and 458, but amazing initial acceleration. I would also imagine in damp/wet conditions it will out accelerate cars like the 458,MP4-12C since the 4 wheels are driven. My FF was king of the road in those conditions.
Another aspect long forgotten, 60's classics like my Alfa Giulia Spider Veloce have original skinny tires, the road contact patch being small carries more weight per sq inch. A Lotus Elite from the 60's carries skinny bias ply ( cross ply ) and was the most delightful car I have ever driven.
Suspension design determines tire width, maybe we went down the wrong road all those years ago.
Like skiiing Austrian school, skies taller than the skier, parallel turns, stem Christie's- elegance personified. Something lost in the crass controlled chaos which passes for skiing today
