Then who cares? Why would I want to buy a $100K+ sports car that's slower than an M3? Waste of money, unless you're just a poser.

awesome piece of engineering. They probably made the rear like that to achieve that low drag coefficient and for looks. Might be quick 0-60, but what about after that?

I think the 6series is the same size as it. I'm guessing it'll use it's frame. Or at least that's the size it will be. I'm totally in!!

Dear Scott or Jason, how is the MPG calculated? Highway? Combined? Based on one full charge of battery? Car in hybrid or full electric mode?

Because it's cutting edge, it's a leader far ahead of the pack, and it's a look at the future.

With respect - it sounds like there's an audience out there that just wants a comfortable variation on history.

That's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try: The 3.76 l per 100 km (75 mpg) figure is a combined figure in hybrid mode. The interesting part about this is that BMW doesn't follow the trick other brands have done (of just using the battery load), but does this test under the premise of an equal charge. In other words, the battery charge after the test run is exactly as much as before, yet it consumes only 3.76l per 100km.

I need to check what standard the other figure (1.3l) is for, maybe that's a plug-in or full electric mode calculation.

Best regards,
south

ok, so let me get this straight, the fact that the battery is equal charge after a test is due to recharging of the regenerative brakes (makes sense) or does it simply turn off the electric motors? Do you have any other details about this. Link maybe?

What brands use the battery load? and why is it allowed to test either way.

there's no way it will look like this at production. the exposed tail light cluster like whats shown in this car will never make production either.

It's mentioned in the German press release on the VED from back in 2009. This is based on some EU regulation, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Porsche for the 918 Spyder and Audi for the e-tron Spyder.

rear end looks very...unfinished. they need to do some work on that yet. but the tail light concept is very cool.
