I would not worry too much about battery longevity. They will become obsolete long before they run out of ability to hold charge.
Same as with the cell phones.

i3 is a 2-door coupe with weird and borderline impractical rear passenger exit hatches (can't open them without opening front doors first, front passenger needs to unbuckle, etc, etc).

It's not the most practical family car, but it is a very handy and economical commuter vehicle, if your lifestyle and budget have space for a 2nd or 3rd car. You can definitely go 10x longer than 6 miles in it, especially if you have a REX.

Hey, can't fault a man for good taste

I will take another look at 9500ix.

Do you miss V1's extra sensitivity at highway speeds, especially to laser:

I know V1 triggers more false alerts, but the only ones that drive me mad are blind-spot detection radar falses from Audi's.
Is 9500ix susceptible to those?

a
I've driven a lot in NYC. Not sure why you need a car in Manhattan at least, regardless of the other 4 boroughs...

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Just did this in my i3, used a mirror tap on the topmost connector, that I believe powers the mirror itself. Green for power, rightmost brown for ground.

Agreed, same here, although I used the brown from the mirror harness.

I have both my radar detectors sitting were the ash tray once was and they both work well in both my BMW's. They don't need to be attached to the windscreen or have a clean view of site.
Try it as it works.
Best thing police don't know I have radar detectors.

Clear forward/rear view is best for radio reception, and critical for Laser detection. The higher, the better:

It's also more ergonomic to have the detector displays and controls within line of sight of you looking ahead though the windshield.

Please don't get lazy with detector placement!

P.S.: Everyone has tons of gizmos attached to the windshields these days (nav devices, cameras, decals, etc), this little downside to adding RD suction cups.

Radar detector is the wallet-saving accessory to your earth-saving i3

Yep! Don't need to be donating any more money to the police!

I drive it very heavy footed and didn't by the i3 for any earth saving jargon.

Don't know why people assume you bought an electric vehicle because your being good to the environment. I bought it because I thought it was cool. And quick around town .
Don't lie you know you love not buying petrol and thus saving the planet one litre or gallon at a time
