Beautiful. If only it came in ///M...
On a side note, those rear seats look even more uncomfortable than the ones in my car.

The outside is stunning but the latest BMW interiors are just so weird looking. The big hunk of plastic with the single vent in the center of the dash looks so strange.

It was funny watching people struggle to get in and (especially) out of the i8 today. People are going to curse that huge door sill.

Nice to see they are letting "regular" people sit in the i8 at shows now! Great news. Car looks gorgeous in this color, in these photos. I think Protonic Blue might be like Sakhir Orange, in that under various lighting conditions it will potentially look very different.

@Tilum, to qualify my "regular" people comment, when I saw the i8 on 3 different occasions it was roped off or behind glass, and no one was allowed to sit in the car. Only media people were allowed this privilege. At the LA Auto Show, they wouldn't even so much as open the doors.
What did you think of the Sophisto Grey and Ionic Silver in person? |

@ddk632, I know David, I was just teasing
Reassuringly the Sophisto Grey is darker than the photos taken at the official motor shows (e.g. Frankfurt, Geneva,...) where (due to the bright show lights) it looks quite a pale grey. In reality it looks more like how it appears in the official BMW press 'images'. The Ionic Silver didn't look that great to me TBH. But then that was my least favourite colour anyway, and it had the standard wheels on it which didn't help. Last edited by Tilum; 04-16-2014 at 06:43 PM.. |

@Tilum,
Hey man you're new here and I would rather not piss off one of the 5 regular posters in the i8 forum, lol. We need all the participation we can get! Glad you liked the Sophisto Grey. I look forward to your photos and impressions of the cabin. |

I've tried to organise the 120 photos this evening. But it's getting late now here in the UK, so I'll try and post a few tomorrow when I sift through them to find the better (/more relevant) ones. P.S. Although the laser lights seem to be firming up as an option for Nov-14 builds (in the UK and Europe at least), one really disappointing piece of news is that has all but been confirmed that the awesome i8 key with the digital display that we've seen (ref. Carac's post) is no longer going to be available for the i8 (or at least not for the first couple of years' cars)! The key shown below is the key I saw today which (to all intents and purposes) may well turn out to be the standard i8 key. The only thing that I can see that goes against this communication is that in the UK i8 price list brochure (dated January 2014) a "Display key" is listed as "Standard Equipment". But having said that, this brochure has apparently been withdrawn due to the brochure containing to "incorrect information"! |

holy mother of beautiful! the only angle this car doesn't look its best is the upper rear view. it looks, dare i say, Prius-y from that angle.

An interesting car for sure.However,I'll never,ever,*ever* drive a purely electric vehicle or a gasoline hybrid.I just might consider a diesel hybrid...I recall having seen a Mercedes diesel hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show a couple of years ago and I believe it's being sold in Europe today.IIRC it was called the E300.
