What the new i8 should have had
Having just finished my two-year "tour of duty" with my i8, here's what I think the new model should have had:
1. Blind spot detection. Every other safety feature was included. Why not this one? 2. At least the 600-watt stereo offered in the lowly 3,4,5, and 7-series models. The Bang and Olufsen or B+W options would have been even better. The cheapie sound system is a joke on a halo car of this price. 3. The display key. It is a joke to repeatedly offer and tease this feature, and then only offer it overseas. Awesome car otherwise, but this growing decontenting by BMW (see the new M5 and X3, for example) is worrying this long-time fan. |

4. idrive 7.0. This is supposed to be the halo vehicle, the technological wonder of the brand, no? In four months the idrive on the new i8 will be outdated by the version available on a SUV costing less than half.
Ranting done, back to driving. |

It’s not a big deal but I really would’ve liked adaptive cruise control. My wife’s GTI has it and it’s a nice feature.
While I’m at it, I would like independent control of the suspension settings like I had on my M5. I want sport mode with comfort suspension. |

Honestly I’m fine with everything it’s missing from a luxury point of view as long as the engine were a turbo V6 or at least V4. Would’ve made the car perfect

I'd forego most of the luxuries that add weight (get rid of the electric seats entirely for example) and go for a bigger battery (or at least one that can discharge for more than 5 seconds) to improve overall performance.
