That's a pre-production European Spec car brought the the US for test drives. BMW loaned it to her for a while for this very reason - to get people talking about it. See the number 27 on the windshield? All of the test drive cars here are numbered like that because they don't have VIN's.

I'm sure they'll not mention Anne flying in to LA on her private jet to meet up with the i3.

No one in the US has an i3 except for BMW North America.
They won't be able to import one either due to the fact that European models are only in production just now.

There is interest in the i3 by celebrities who own alternative drivetrain models.
And also in the i8.
Some lucky celebrities have had a closed room invitation to view the i8, some have even ordered the cars. I know of two high profile customers for the i3 and the i8 who will be the first to take delivery.

But this is good marketing , she is being photographed in the car leading to people talking about it. I am sure there will be intelligent people talking about the i3 unlike the douchebags in that video.

In the meantime Munich is very much a city of the future in the present.
