How's the 720S treating you? i8 still feeling special? Obviously different worlds in terms of performance. 720S gets to 275 kph in same time it takes i8 to get to 200 kph! But i8 still puts a smile on my face despite my other cars, curious to know your thoughts!

The prior weekend, I attended a McLaren event at the Lotus factory and test track, driving Lotus cars on their track. As we were using Lotuses, I took my i8. It got a lot attention amongst the McLarens, and most had not seen an i8 up close. I had a blast in the 720S this morning though, and EVERY single fast bike I came across wanted to play i8 does not suffer from this. I did succumb once, and of course left the bike behind easily, but backed off after a few seconds for the sake of my licence. It is stupidly crazily fast - far too much so for the road. For any long journey, or in traffic, I pick the i8. Where I know I will get good twisty/fast roads, I choose the 720S. I love both these cars |

Spider version
As the i8 developed into the i8 Roadster, the 720S too now has a Spider version. And it is stunning
I will confirm my order tomorrow morning when the dealership opens https://www.cars.mclaren.press/en-gb/releases/641 I like the fact the Spider is only 49kg heavier than the coupe. I especially like the all glass roof, and glass flying buttresses. The electrochromic glass in the roof is a lovely touch I'd planned on switching the to 7xxLT anyway, so this just means I will get the Spider version of that car |

A friend did the video, which is why it's so good i.e. not my own work I agree a drone would have really added to it. If we do a re-shoot, and he gets a good drone, it is definitely something to try. Especially at such a stunning location. |

Getting a lot of very negative feedback from friends who have bought last gen McL.
Tons of glitches that should have been resolved in pre prod. Poor service from dealers who are overwhelmed with warranty claims. One guy trying to reject a 570s and the dealer bidding £30k below where he bought 6 weeks ago. They are offering delivery mileage 720s with £50k discounts before even asking. Curious to hear if you had any problem with yours? Happy with dealer service? |

Yes, I've seen the same. Some early cars were fine, but others had issues. Electrical issues very common with 570S and prior.
720S has a completely new Iris system. Mine has had zero issues though, not even a temporary electrical glitch. Even iPhone and music connection is always instant and never fails. My dealer has been exceptional. But I am well aware than other dealers have a poor reputation e.g. London and Ascot. So although these are both closer to me, I bought from Hatfield. Discounts are available on all supercars these days. Partly a Brexit effect. Used cars of all marques have lost value more than usual recently - yes even V8 Ferraris. Car industry is struggling due to over capacity. By comparison, my i8 has had numerous software/electrical glitches over the years but it is ok now, apart from the iPhone connect. (SatNav disappeared in Germany, connection to iPhone commonly fails with no music, HUD disappears.) |

Agree with all points except when you say that all supercars command discounts. Would love a 488 pista or gt3 at list.. |

Jas, I test drove a 720 yesterday. I noticed a constant annoying buzzing said. The salesman said this is normal. Does your car do this?
