phone mount recommendations

I am looking for phone mount recommendations for use in the i8. I had previously used the iOttie Easy One Touch (mounted to the windshield) in my last car but with the windshield so far from the driver on the i8 and the iOttie being a bit of an eye sore (imho) due to its bulk I am looking for suggestions. What are you using?

TIA,
Jeff

I have probably spent over $100+ in car mounts and this is the best one hands down. It is small, compact, discrete, and works so well with the AC vent. Also has the added help from the AC vent to cool the phone.

I have used the Steelie mount on my last 3 cars. Have it on the i8 also now. Discrete, holds well. Very good.

I've never used phone mounts but I've never liked the idea of blocking the vent.
This car seems to get so hot it seems it would be an issue blocking the vent?
I def need a mount though, so maybe I'll try one out.

looks good, but trying to stay away from anything do to with the windshield with all the reports of windshield cracks.

I bought this one here as it's the most minimal and matching design I could find.

Belkin Rotating Universal In Car Air Vent Mount Holder for Smartphone - Black/Silver https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O5JAR..._A.fezbV5KJKRX

Funny, my brither in law thought the mount actually came with the i8 because it matched the interior so well when mounted onto the air vents. The silver is almost exactly the same shade!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am going to try the Spigen Kuel A201 Car Phone Mount suggested by askmeaboutkfc. Will report back after I use it.

i went with your recommendation.. you are right this fits perfectly in the i8 and holds a heavy iPhone 7plus securely

Does it hold the plus size phone securely enough? And is it secure enough in the air vents? Is it strongly built?

Just asking as it seems like a good idea to get one, but the 1 star reviews all seemed to comment on it being weak.

I got this one, but it doesn't seem to be working very well. Bumps in the road, and the phone mount keeps drifting down.

I put it on the vent above buttons 6-8. Means I've had to reorganise my buttons but a larger iPhone rests on the dash so it's quite secure. It seems perfectly secure in my view. A little awkward to put the phone in and out but that's a consequence of the lean design. Fits perfectly with the upholstery.

The comments probably come from the specific car it's used for. I bought the same one for the tesla and it doesn't fit very good. Ok. But not great. I8 is fine. I installed it on the centre console and it covers buttons 6-8 and the right/left audio button. I only ever used button 8 but it's a fair compromise for it being in your natuaral peripheral vision.

I've just had Amazon deliver the V2 version of the Belkin mount and have decided to mount it on the vent closest to the driver's door as I found the weight on my iPhone 7 Plus caused the vent to drop. I haven't had chance to see how it behaves whilst driving but quite impressed with the grip it has on the vents.

Seems to be the shape and different Belkin branding.

I did buy the v2, and it certainly holds the iPhone 6 Plus securely. Only downside being that it covers 2 pre-set buttons.

I have mine covering 1+2 btw.

Works perfectly

I tried it on the right in the small vent, but it was insecure there.

I have been using the Spigen Kuel A201 Car Phone Mount for a few weeks now and it works very good. I currently have it attached to the A/C vent in between the dash and the driver's door. The mount has about a 1 1/2" width so the air from the vent is not completely blocked by the phone.

I got this off Amazon for like 8 bucks. It's got a magnet built in and I keep a thin metal plate on the inside of my phone cover. Works great and the usb lightning cable can be neatly attached to charge and play music while I drive.

I modified my Brodit mount with a Magsafe. Looks excellent and slim, when the iPhone 12 is on it.
