At £68,000 there are so many choices and real cars that I can think of...
And beautiful too inside and outside.
Tesla is plain ugly... Inside and outside.

Pretty sure, these car companies pay to have their cars nominated. Hasn't anyone else figured this out by now?

First time I have heard someone say the model S is ugly too. It would look good with a gas engine and less interior tech too.

Nice looking car.

LOL

You found the angle you liked the least, a color that I'm not sure I have ever saw in the flesh and posted it. And it still isn't ugly. If I was home I would find some different pics.

I agree somewhat. The interior is boring, too much room, if that makes sense. You don't feel like your driving something, more like it is driving you around. Feels like you are riding is a car at an amusement park. The exterior is bland.

Thank you for providing, at last, the perfect word to describe the Tesla S: BLAND.

It's not that it's ugly, it's just so boring.

I'll gladly agree that the acceleration is very invigorating, but everything else is bland.

The interior is actually worse than bland -- it's banal. It's totally dependent on the supposed sexiness of the imitation iPad screen. But if you look at and touch the rest of the interior, it's all just slightly off in that synthetic, trying-too- hard-to-be-luxurious way that could easily have been designed and built by Toyota or Chevy. And even the faux iPad screen is less than sexy when (as happens pretty often in the real world) the internet connection is not so hot.

The layout of the first page of the What Car? does make it look like perhaps the i3 just won in its price category.

However, if you click on the link to the part of the article that talks specifically about the i3 (http://www.whatcar.com/awards/2014/c...en-cars/20-30k), you will see that indeed the i3 was their overall Green car of the year, beating both the Zoe and the Tesla S.

WhatCar? awards

You correctly say that i3 & 435i have won WhatCar? awards, but you overlook 5 other category wins for BMWs:

The BMW 5 Series Touring scores Best buy Estate over £25,000

BMW 5 Series Sedan is Best buy Executive Car over £28,000

BMW 3 Series Sedan wins Best buy Executive Car £24,000-£28,000.

Illustrating that the Brits define “large SUV” by a different standard than Americans, BMW X3 tops out as Best buy Large SUV £25,000-£40,000.

In addition, BMW’s Rolls-Royce Phantom was named Best Buy over £100,000.
