should I get panoramic sunroof tinted? The glass is dark but doesn't block any heat.

should I get panoramic sunroof tinted? The glass is dark but doesn't block any heat.(with the sunshade opened) Is the factory glass only dark in color and doesn't filter any heat from the sunlight? when I drive, I can feel the heat on my head now that weather is getting warm.

the car is a '23 X1. The panoramic glass panels are all dark glass and only the glass panel above the front passengers can slide back.

Go for it! There are some newer ceramic films that block heat without being too much darker. The factory tint does block some IR. Keeps parasites out, too!

I have LLumar FormulaOne Pinnacle Ceramic Tint on my cars, legal for VA. The LLumar IRX heat-rejecting window tint features advanced nano-ceramic construction that specifically targets infrared rays. This is what gives LLumar IRX tint its name and its cooling power.

I was going to recommend Llumar IRX 50% on it... good stuff.
But be prepared... quote for a panoramic sunroof is about $400.

Heard some rumblings that if you tint, any issues with the sunroof will be denied under warranty.

I’ve been doing some research about doing mine. Haven’t found any verifiable warranty denials, but have found several recommendations not to go any darker than 70% to keep from reflecting too much heat back into the glass. Apparently that is what causes any issues. I’ve decided to go with Llumar Air 80. It’s a classed as a clear film (slight bluish tint on clear glass, but supposedly unnoticeable on factory tinted glass). It is supposed to block approximately 46% of the heat. Blocks 60% of IR light and 99% of UV light. I found it recommended by several tint shops online, and it’s the only film my local shop recommends for sunroofs. Just my 2cents.

This is a potential issue for sure!
I have 3M Crystalline on my DD (VW id4). However the install wouldn't install it (or any ceramic tint) on the roof because they said the tint manufacturer won't allow due to ceramic tint traps heat and would potentially cause crack on the glass roof.

Ive tinted 25 cars over the past 20 years, and everytime I asked to tint the sunroof glass I was told they wont do it. I even begged and said I'll pay anything, and I was still denied.

Tinting your panoramic sunroof could be a good idea if you're experiencing discomfort from the heat, especially since you've mentioned that the factory glass doesn't seem to filter much heat. Tinting can help reduce the amount of heat entering the car through the sunroof, making your driving experience more comfortable, particularly in warmer weather.

Before getting the tinting done, it's a good idea to check your local regulations regarding the darkness of tinting allowed on sunroofs. Additionally, make sure to choose a reputable professional to do the tinting to ensure it's done correctly and doesn't interfere with the functionality of your sunroof.

Overall, tinting could be a practical solution to mitigate the heat and improve your driving experience.
Let me know if it does help you. If not I will share more info. I was searching for a site online where I can find online real money gaming sites in which I can pay by mobile casino and when I was searching for it online, I found your post. I know about this and that is why I came here to help you.

Would a windshield film, which goes on the outside, work?

Auto-correct had parasites instead of panoramic initially - I couldn't resist!

it was actually "parasitic sunroom" thanks to auto-correct. I didn't realize it until much later.

as for the actual tint for the panoramic sunroof, I'm putting that idea on hold.

After visiting two different tint shops(one xpel and one 3M), they both wanted me to sign waivers for tinting the panoramic sunroof glass. Sounds too ominous to me.

I was skeptical at first, did a lot of reading on line. I found about 50-50 for and against from "Installers". I found lots of horror stories about the glass shattering, but none that were first person. In other words, lots of "I knew this guy once..." type stories of it happening. Here's my thoughts... The sunroof is made of glass just like the windshield and side windows and rear hatch windows. No one has any problem tinting those with ceramic film. they are all exposed to the same sun and same temperature for the same amount of time. As a dealership service manager in my younger years, (granted it was before ceramic film became widely available) I personally have never seen one break from heat. I may end up with a big out of pocket expense for a new sunroof, but then I'll know. I'll update this with the results. With all the complaints about the A/C system on the X-7 and Texas heat, I'm going to take the gamble.

Well... I call fake news on the "being denied" thing in regard to any issue with a sunroof and tint being present! The Magnuson-Moss Warranty act took care of this back in 75' folks... In order for any warranty to be denied, the insurer would have to demonstrate that the Tint on the glass led to the failure! An extremely difficult thing to do! This all goes to a dozen or so different scenarios where unscrupulous dealers and whatnot looked to deny deny deny taking care of something they're responsible for. For example, an after market exhaust on a car denying warranty on a spun rod/blown engine! Installing an aftermarket audio system and having an electrical failure with the headlights... Blah blah blah...

Sorry, but no! I would love a dealer to tell me the sunroof motor stopped working because I tinted the glass! After I stopped crying from laughing so hard, I would be on the phone direct with corporate and public relations as a stock holder making complaints! You'd be surprised how quickly things get resolved. Anyways...

Tint, use ceramic tint and don't look back. Enjoy!

Hey man, get it done.
It’s the best way to go for a better driving experience, I would hate to drive and have to worry about the heat.

Had a 2012 MB 350 with a full sunroof in Tucson AZ. Had the roof done with ceramic tint, kept the car 3 years no problems. Granted it was garaged when not on the road, but it did get plenty of vitamin D. Currently have a 24 m60i and waiting for full summertime 117 temps. I may consider tinting...
