Looking for an i8 in a Protonic color (prefer red or blue, but will consider other Protonic colors—no standard white, silver or gray). Mileage not important (low or high is ok). Must have clean title and no accidents. I have a rare and low mileage Z1 to trade. Details below:

1989 BMW Z1

30k miles, 5-speed, Dream Black (Traum Schwartz), with Gray/Black/Camouflage leather and nubuck (alcantara) interior. Very rare, even for an already rare Z1. One of the first 200 cars built with the extremely limited and desirable "Z1 Audio System" which includes a built in amplifier, upgraded speakers and upgraded head unit. Also rare MPH speedometer showing both imperial and metric measurements. Odometer in miles. Documented pedigree. Imported from Germany to the UK when new and from the UK to US in 2008 where it has remained in my collection ever since.

Period correct and documented Racing Dynamics upgrades including 17-inch, 5-bolt wheels with new Pirellis. New timing belt and water pump. New OE BMW catalytic converter upon US import in 2008. Less than 5k miles since. Current Colorado title.

Multiple "best in show" car show winner. Always garaged and covered. #1 "Concours" condition on Hagerty's valuation scale is $116,000, #2 "excellent" condition is $76,100. This is a #2 condition no excuses car. $75,000 or reasonable offer. Can deliver west of the Mississippi for the right i8 trade. Plus or minus cash depending on value of your i8.

Thanks, @Elmar. While I could not understand the entire video in German, the theme is clear—both the Z1 and i8 were very ahead of their time!

He says that when he saw the Z1 for the first time, he knew immediately he had to have one and knew he couldn’t get wrong with it due to the known quality of BMW. Same later when he saw the Vision Efficient Dynamics concept, he went to his dealer to place a buy option for it in case they would build it. He expected a 10 cyl at that time and was a bit surprised when it came as a hybrid. But then he learned the essence of the car, the seamless interplay between ICE and electric motor and became aware that this is something completely different to other sports cars. And he hopes over time people will recognize the unique and outstanding concept that makes this car so great.

I think the i8 it's an instant classic, may be not for our generation, but the little kids growing up will be the ones trying to get a hold of a car like the i8. I can see the excitement every time they see me getting out my car and with inflation and money printing it'll be a million dollar car.
Hope to be getting paid in Bitcoin or solana by then.

The i8 is currently the only carbon fiber hybrid sports car you can purchase for less than $1,000,000.

This is perfect! Thank you for translating!

Exactly….and the Z1 is the the first relatively mass produced sports car to use a composite underbody…oh, and the only one that has EVER been made with doors that drop down inside the body of the car.

I often see similar excitement from the little ones when operating the doors on the Z1

The latest Hagerty Price Guide shows the values have ticked up for the Z1…now over $80k for a condition 2 car. I am still interested and willing to honor my previous Z1 valuation of $75k for an i8 trade. Again, willing to add cash on top if your i8 is worth more than that.

Why not just sell the Z1 and buy an i8?

Sales tax on the i8 will be offset by the price of the Z1. I’d rather not give DMV and the state any more of my money than I have to.
