White interior is a must with those new seats, but I’m not really feeling Stealth Grey (not sure though). But if you want the tax credit and white interior, then that’s your only option at this point.

“Tesla just killed the i4 completely. You want less and pay more, you should get the i4.” Ouch. This video summarizes a lot of data out there.

I have to admit, part of me hates Tesla for releasing this car. I don't want to like it, and I'm not sure I will once I get to test drive it, but I feel like it simply can't be ignored at this price point.
I took an I4 M50 on a two hour test drive yesterday and really enjoyed it. The interior is a step down from my G30, but I expected that. It felt good, however, to get back into something a little smaller. The I4 checked most of my boxes for a luxurious enough daily driver with some zip, and I love the utility of the hatch and the familiarity of IDrive. I was impressed with how comfortable and quiet it was at cruise as well, especially after having test-driven the I5 M60 a few days before. I then went and sat in a RWD 2024 Model 3 and even with the upgrades, I didn't like it. Someone posted a comment on one of the YouTube reviews that I feel sums it up well: Tesla interior is like a mid-divorce apartment -- one empty room with a big TV in it. Yep. Utterly soulless and no trace of driver focus whatsoever -- and why would there be from a company whose ultimate vision is to do away with human drivers entirely? Will the new seats and a bit of carbon fiber in the performance model cabin change my mind? No way. I get that some people either don't care or actually like the Spartan utility of Tesla interiors, but I'm clearly not one of them. But still, if it drives as well as the early reviews suggest, it is going to be hard for me to justify the loaded I4 I was leaning towards. Really hard. It suddenly feels like the M3P is the only BEV that makes financial sense for enthusiasts looking for electric options who don't want to spend Taycan money. I think this vehicle is going to be one of the most disruptive Teslas yet. I'm looking forward to the test drive to see if it changes my mind. I am beginning to think it may push me into an M4 Comp for one last ICE hurrah. At least that I wouldn't feel bad about buying outright. These transitional electrification years are making me crazy. |

Why buy a 3er/C-Class/A4 when you could get a lot more with a Honda Accord, Lexus IS or Cadillac ATS? Why buy a 5er/E-Class/A6 and pay for leather and comfort access when you could buy a Lexus ES/LS, Cadillac CTS and get those things standard plus a bunch more? At the end of the day, Tesla will do whatever Elon decides to do but long-term it's not going to do much to BMW, Mercedes or even Audi because the German 3 are still brands that people strive to own now with ICE and will continue to be an aspirational brand when they fully transition to full EV. |

Do yourself a favor and rent a tesla 3 for couple of days. Then you will see why many previous 3 series and c class and E class owners bought teslas over years. Will tesla gonna keep its position? That depends on what china auto industry will do. We will see if Germans will catch up. I’m kinda positive about the neue klasse though, BMW has to hurry up, Chinese car are coming soon. |

Very kind of you to assume my comment is based on internet reading, they are not. I have driven 1000s of miles in model 3 and model X, borrowed for weeks not rented, and have 10+ unhappy friends in my network.

I own an i4 M50 and a Model Y LR with Ohlins suspension. The i4 is twice the car that the Model Y is, but the Model Y is cheap, at least. Tesla isn't luxury. I'm sure people cross shop the Model 3 with the i4, just for size. The new Model 3 Performance sounds like a step up overall versus what it was, but I'd still probably take the i4 M50. I don't need another .4 or whatever to 60 when I want extended thigh support, a hatch, a killer stereo, a HUD, etc. If Tesla offered all that, we'd have a better competition but a closer price. Also, I don't know about the new Model 3, but the old one has crap suspension. It takes a set of Ohlins just to stop it from being scary to drive on country roads.

You will get censured or banned in Tesla Facebook forums for calling the model 3 perf the M3. It should never happen in Bimmerpost. |

One advantage of BMW is that you can compare apples to apples. I spec'ed out the exact same 340iX to my M50 and the M50 came in only $3K more.
For non-EV users that will pay for the difference in less than 2 years in gas savings alone. Electricity is about 1/8 the cost per mile of gasoline. Then it is gravy. For Tesla owners, stop comparing a luxury brand (BMW) to the Ford of EVs (Tesla) on cost. If you like your basic EV, great! |

Quote from a friend who drove a VW e-golf for 5 years, and other sport enthusiast gasoline powered cars. “Model Y is the most boring car I have ever driven, and don’t get me started on the quality issues”. This friend is with a family, not a school kid who loves cars. Not seeing why calling it an appliance triggered you. Certainly I am entitled to my opinion. And this isn’t a Tesla forum anyway. Peace!

Just sold the Y and bought the iX. If we didn't have three kids to cart around, the i4M50 is a great car. Last edited by Bimmerfun82; 05-02-2024 at 09:49 AM.. |
