Love the exterior styling and performance of the NSX, but the interior still feels/looks like a Honda/Acura. Nothing particularly bespoke about it.

I don't see how the value isn't decreasing rapidly - if you do a quick google search, you'll see 100s of i8's for sale: 14's, 15's, 16's. No one is buying them. Based on how many dealers keep inventory of these cars, the used market is absolutely insane. Waiting has to be the best game right now. Lease or buy

Update:
I want to thank all of you for giving me such good info on the I8. After consideration (and one bait & switch) I determined that the NSX was more to my liking so I got one. Picked it up today. |

Congrats! Please report back with your impression. They're both tremendous cars. I think the NSX is beautiful though. Really blows me away in person. Did you buy or lease?

Then BMW should have put a note on it there are no user serviceable parts, or they could have used retainers that need a special tool or they could have made it so you can open the hood without breaking it, a novel idea. Also, those slide switches on the emergency levers are nonsense. |

Congrats on the NSX.
I assume you were able to get a substantial discount from MSRP since they are not selling well - although there are a few in my neighborhood. For the same money I would have looked hard at the 570 Mac. Enjoy! Dave in Dallas |

Same in the UK. They are not selling well, and there is huge criticism of the cheap interior. The 570 is indeed a better option in all respects. Front of the car looks odd too. The i8 is clearly not a competitor for the new NSX, which is much more performance oriented. |

Is anyone finding better leasing options on the I8? BMW only sold 20 i8s in June and I just got a call from a dealer knocking quite a bit off the price. coincidence?

One friend of mine who has had multiple BMW's couldn't believe it. I am still considering an I8, but not till after 2020 when the warranties expire. I expect they will be under $50k if not less by then. Coming to a specific car forum I expect to hear people rave and even defend their choice of car. The I8 and NXS are about the same base price, with used I8's going for a lot less. Two hybrids, two diffent philosophies, it's great to have selection and choice. I think that I did enough research to make then "right" decision. Last edited by heavymetals; 07-27-2017 at 04:18 PM.. |

Agreed. The NSX more track inclined while the i8 more GT sports. It's really a matter of personal preference. For me, I've become less enamored with driving track cars on city streets. They're severely underutilized by traffic and speed limitations. Moreover, their suspension setups aren't meant for pothole laden nor undulated city streets. For me, it only makes sense to have such a vehicle if I would be spending time at the track. As for aesthetics, frankly, I was less impressed with the NSX I test drove. While it does have some nice lines, I'm not quite feeling it for the chevy like front grill profile nor for its interior. As for track purpose, it would be the Porsche 911 Turbo S' speed and handling over the NSX's. Other than that, nice bold color choice you selected for the NSX. For me, I've had terrible luck in avoiding speeding tickets when I had my red Ferrari F430. Good Luck! |

As an i8/458 owner and someone whose frankly enamored with the exterior appearance of the NSX and who had driven the car close to 100 miles (not my cars but friends/dealers) I have to say, completely unbiased, the i8 is a "better" car. The GT characteristics of the i8 are spectacular. It's so well rounded. The performance is there it's just not to the degree of the NSX. The doors make getting in and out an event which I love. The NSX is a tremendous car, really. The i8, imho, is just slightly better despite being slower. Perhaps it's because my 458 feels way more exciting than either of them so I have that base covered. If the NSX had the butterfly doors as well it might be a tremendous show car....
