My 2015 i8 with 5000 miles has had two instrument cluster failures. Car drives ok but any place where information input is required has dotted lines. Has anyone else had this problem? System reboot worked the first time after only driving 2500 miles. Same problem recurred within 2000 miles. Software update has been performed in the hopes of solving the problem but I am more concerned this is a IO hardware and not software problem. Frustrated. Both times occurred when I was starting a 2 week vacation looking forward to driving the i8. Was given a 1 series the first time and an X1 this time. Appreciated the loaner so as not to miss vacation time but not the same as having my i8.

Had a similar problem with my 2015 i8, which required replacing the entire instrument cluster. Since its replacement 18 months ago, the instrument display unit has remained issue free.

Thanks YW. I thought it would take more than a reboot or upgrade. Waiting to hear back from BMW.

Never had the issue and I keep updating the software at the dealer. Would lead me to believe that this hardware failure.
