I only wish I could tell you all......

Those at PI Munich know the answers to all the questions above (apart from firm dates).

So I'm assuming rear seats are gone and the rag top folds into that space, but can that space still be used for cargo when the roof is up? My back seats are my main cargo spaces in this car at the moment. IMO they would've been better suited as such in the first place anyways. Can't use the back seats comfortably unless you're under 5 feet.

I was under the same impression. It has always been described as "where the rear seats used to be".

I do get some use out of them - for my kids. Similar to a 911, I suppose.

Power ?

Would be very disappointing if no more power were to be offered in the Roadster, or indeed the 2018 MY i8's generally ? Surely they will get the upgraded battery packs from the i3 ?

I will order the updated i8 if the battery range is improved (which it probably will be). I also expect a power bump and an interior refresh.

Has that ever happened on a LCI, a power bump? (Besides interior upgrades)
I can't remember of one

I put full sized 6ft men in the back seats when my friends and I go out sometimes....we barely fit but it's still def nice having the option on a car like this. Name one car with these style doors that has a remotely usable backseat.....i8 is so badass

I'm interested in the exterior changes as well....will they change the exterior trim colors etc.?

I hope we get some new colors to choose from, but for me the form still works. There has been a lot of development (in the industry) on both the electric drivetrain side and safety features. I think we will see this in the updated model. A new gearbox and changes to the engine is coming to the Mini. Im guessing some of these changes will come to the i8 aswell.

Overall Im very excited I testdrove the current model and was tempted to buy, but I resisted and am waiting for the update..

Hopefully BMW is putting the 4 cylinder engine in the refreshed i8 for 270 ICE HP. Add in another 180 electric HP and total toque somewhere in the low 500's and we'd have a true supercar. I doubt BMW will do it but the worst part is it wouldn't be too difficult for them

Think if the i8 was a low to mid 11 second quarter mile car. Totally change the game.

A new gearbox, drivetrain improvements (15% more power), reduced weight, cf wheels, ... would make the i8 more competitive with the NSX, Tesla, et al. But equally important is pricing; $150k is beyond the market, so the bean counters will have their say in how much the LCI is changed. I too have been waiting, but at some point the logic of a slightly faster $150k 2018 via ED fades in comparison with a used $85k 2015.

I'm getting mine used today. I'm sure there won't be a bowerbump on the LCI. And as you mentioned, the used (mine is a demo) are dirt cheap. And hey, the current power is more than enough for me. By the way, I'm coming from a F80 M3.

Hey Nachbar, I will be most interested in your M3/i8 comparison.

NSX will be my car after the i8 if the refresh isn't enough.

Jo,

Consider the McLaren 720S instead

NSX is very flawed in many ways IMHO.

I drove th nsx today. While overpriced it is very impressive. For all the tech in the car it's not really overpriced if you think about it.

The nsx is an absolute rocket. Handles amazing in the twisters, you feel the electric motors pulling you through the turns. If I see them fall to 140k used I might get it. The interior is underwhelming, but no more so then the i8.

Paint was awesome, drove a blue one no the car is pretty low. Reminded me of the 570. Might handle better then 570 due to awd and no turbo lag with the electric motors.

You have to put it in sport plus mode to get a sense of it. Didn't use track.

Truly impressive. Not sure there tranny is up to PDk or mclaren dual clutch. Paddles shifters seemed to lag a little . Not as immediate as 570

I think the NSX is beautiful. The thing for me is I split my time between Pittsburgh and Scottsdale. So in Pittsburgh a car like NSX/i8 is great because it's easy to service and it rides will. Mclaren will come get the car from 150 miles away but Philly is the closest dealer so I'd have to pay to ship it there for service. But when I get rid of my 458 in a year or so the 720S or better yet LT makes a lot of sense for Scottsdale.

Btw, the Camaro ZL1 is super car performance for $60k. I don't know if it's available in the U.K. however.

$200k is too much for an Acura. I8 has the great lease program so it leases like a $100k car. NSX needs a similar program.
