Yup! I got audited... yup I gotta pay it back... anyone else get fooled into taking the federal tax credit on your tax returns and you LEASED the i3/i8 ? I used turbo tax, I'm very sure I checked it was a lease but it still gave me the tax credit so of course I took it... I'm currently in process of doing the research now if it was turbo tax or if it was user error...

I've asked around and it seems like a common misconception that you get a tax refund on a lease too so I'm very curious to see if I'm alone in this or not?

Sorry to hear! The dealer should have made it very clear that they fed tax would be collected by them and applied to your lease terms, lowering your monthly payment. Sometimes that detail gets lost though, I can see where there is confusion. At least it's not ADDITIONAL money out of your pocket. It's not like that $7500 was yours anyway right? Good luck!
