It's probably my fault. Once BMW realised that an ipure member was from Barnsley, they decided another club was needed

It remain a mystery why that has not been implemented in one of the largest markets in Europe. And this has been asked many, many times pre-Brexit so no one can say because of Brexit and start a political argument.
It's apparently a BMW UK decision?

My dealer did tell me it was because of some bad accidents with RHD UK drivers collecting a high power car and heading to the Autobahn to home. Same for Mercedes he said. I can see some logic on that but can it be true?

I for one would jump at the chance for a Welt collection and the full tour yada yada!

Hey-hi, been waiting 10 years no drama

Appreciate the reply, cheers Scott.

What did your dealer say when you went in and talked to them about how loyal you are and the dealer did not get you a first edition one? Were they apologetic or did they say BMW told them you could not get one and they needed the I 8 first edition for dealer stock? Wonder if another buyer after you bought yours did not want the "First Edition" and gave it up?

Wonder what the full story is

No... I spoke directly with a very well established BMW NA Contact and she told me that all the First Editions were spoken for... This was right after my order was entered into the system. I got the same info ("all spoken for") both from my Sales Rep and BMW NA directly...

Not specifically about the "First Edition"...more about how it was handled (or not)...

It doesn't seem to stop US and other European registered collections who some should exercise more care especially on the Autobahn. Driving the Autobahn especially at Speed means you must have all your senses attuned as anything can happen in the blink of an eye.
Once saw an M3 turn its DSC off on the streets of Munich at night. Dangerous and highly stupid. Hopefully the Polizei thought so too.

BMW did not block the cars - they made the cars on request of the president of the official i8 Club in Germany

In July 2017 he asked BMW if a special "club edition of first edition" would be possible and surprinsingly they agreed - if at least 18 people would order one in advance within two weeks.
And 18 club members did.

(I am a club member and I was offered to order one too. Unfortunately I bought my coupe just weeks before.)
