Software Version/Updates

Has anyone had their software upgraded since your i8 was delivered? If you have just taken delivery of a 2015 i8, what soffware version are you running?

Please note country.

Can't you just go into Settings and update it yourself at any time? I thought we could all do that.

The setting is present in my car, although I did not use it yet. I thought I'd do it when parked for a while in a good signal area, because I don't know how long it would take and whether it will immobilise the car during the process.

Now that both of you mentioned it, I'm having to take the '15 -i8 to the dealership for an overnight software update. According to the service rep., the comprehensive programming cannot be performed via remote. A hassle, but provides for the opportunity to fill up the nitrogen filled tires and to have an overnight test drive in one of their loaner cars.

Makes me wonder what the Update option in Settings is for then. Perhaps ask them whilst you are there?

I suspect it's used by the service person.

I don't think so, as it is not in a hidden menu but is openly there for owners to use.

According to the service consultant, the software update function within the i8's menu can be utilized by the driver to update navigation related information only.

As for my vehicle, it will be in the shop for a two day software re-installation. I was informed that the vehicle was signaling the service center for a 10K service despite having less than 1K miles on it. Can't complain - at least I get to try out the BMW loaner.

I had a glitch that as soon as I picked up the car it sent a service request, then stopped. Wonder if it's the same.
