Extended Warranty in USA
My factory warranty on my 2019 Roadster expires in December. Any recommendations for an extended warranty? I understand BMW offers one for the powertrain only. Other companies offer good ones? What is the best price you've found? Thanks.

BMW offers Platinum Electric Warranty for the i8, which as good as the New Car Warranty. You can purchase it directly from your BMW Online Portal. Just go to "My Garage" tab and pick your vehicle, if you have more than one. Once the vehicle page opens click on warranties. Scroll to the bottom of the page and it gives you the pricing for the Platinum Electric warranty.
Platinum Warranty Covers: Engine Transmission Final Drive Assembly Transfer Case (all-wheel-drive only) Electrical Cooling System Fuel System Suspension System Induction System Steering Brakes and ABS Heat and A/C Infotainment System Interior and Exterior |

Extended service contract and extended warranty contracts are different.
Best way to get extended warranty is from a dealer, and some have better prices than others. Christine Newman at Steve Thomas seems to be the best.

Yes BMW explained that 3rd part extended service contracts (what i have) are actually better in some ways. They showed me that under warranty bmw can deny services if they feel something is not a "defect" in the part. Mice chewing a wire. You tuned the engine etc.
A service contract the dealership says this part is bad. New one needed. And in general the service contract doesnt ask questions just replaces the bad part however it was damaged. I mean obviously not if it was malicious. I forget the brand mine is. But i just pay a $200 deductible its bumper to bumper i have till 5/2024 or 100k miles. Im at like 36k only. |
