i8 roadsters reviews are in!

Looks like the reviewers like it. They say it has sharper driving dynamics than the (old) i8 coupé....

I'll just stick to the English speaking media...

The Roadster looks amazing!!! I just think BMW priced themselves out of the market.

Saw a test model on Saturday between Austria and Munich. Looks pretty cool in person. Don't think my photos do justice.

Yeah, they don't. Why you up it's butt? Can barely see the entire car.

That pricing is outrageous. Lol!

I never really warmed up to the i8, but I can't blame BMW for what they wanted the i8 to be. It's just an Innovation Car, and nothing else really. It's not a sports car, its not a super car, it's not an M car, it's not a practical grocery getter, it was just meant to herald in the new future of BMW's electric mobility platforms. However, building from the i8's lessons learned and experience, ///M Division will use this experience and apply it to future ///M Models for hybrid ///M cars of the future. Still need to keep that battery weight down somehow though.

It is so bad that BMW did not upgrade the interior with the up graded exterior. The interior looks so old fashioned and outdated.

I agree, looking at the interior pictures I expected to see a more lavish or "futuristic" look. Does not match the exteriors personality.

If this car had the V10 from my 08 M6 with the DCT from my wife's current M6 I'd be skipping meals to save up for one. Hell even the V8 from my 2013 M3 would do. Sadly it will just go on the long list of BMWs I'm not interested in owning or even driving to the dealer to look at.

I'd like to see pics of a CostCo run in one of these. Although with the top down, one could fit some bigger items. Best case use I've seen of an impractical Supercar, was Ironman 2 when Tony Stark put that giant diorama in this Audi R8 Spyder. Lol! Otherwise have fun trying to fit the CostCo toilet paper bulk in the frunk.

I'm doing a Euro Delivery (in conjunction with 2-Days of BMW Nurburgring training) so I'm already trying to figure out how/what to pack for the two weeks... ...and its only me!

I'll get one of these cpo after they come off lease. Maybe I'll lease the CPO. So is this like a removable t top that you can store in the trunk or hatch?

I go shopping in mine all the time (all electric). Don't forget, there's a back seat which is great for storage. I don't know anything about bulk toilet paper but it's not high on my shopping list.

And why isn't the i8 a sports car? Mine sure feels like one. Have you driven an i8? - you might be surprised. It has made me totally forget my M5 as it is way more fun to drive. Once I felt that instant torque and 1/2 ton less weight I never looked back.

Btw, there is no frunk.

The i8 is a Innovation Car that is fun to dive and sporty, but is by no means a Sports Car. A Porsche 911 is a Sports Car. Even a base Carrera is lighter than an i8. I'm not saying the i8 is bad, quite contrary, I've driven one and it drives great! Thanks to it's CFRP construction mostly. It's definitely a sporty car one can throw into corner with decent power too. It definitely drives better than an F10, heck most lighter cars drive better than an F10 M5 for sure. The i8 is a wonderful car for what it is, but calling it a pure sports car is a stretch. Also for comparison, the new 2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a Sports Car and has a lower base price than an i8 Spyder. But the Vantage lacks the innovative hybrid drive drivetrain that the i8 features, so we don't call the Vantage an Innovation Car like i8. For further comparison the Acura NSX is both an Innovation Car and a Sports Car, some would even call it a Super Car. I really don't care about any of this stuff though, and I'm not trying to debate, I'm just bored at the moment and I like to write stuff on these forums.
