Door cover on power connector

Does the door cover where you plug in the charger lock when the car is locked? Mine doesn't.

It does not lock on i8. (Does lock on i3.)

Yes, sadly the i8 has many missing features that are present on lesser BMWs.

This is still the case with the refresh model i8 cars too.

All in the spirit of saving weight, I suppose. Just think of the Boxster GTS with its fabric loops for door handles, for instance ...

Just confirmed that the door doesn't lock on my 2019 car when the car is locked, but the charging plug is locked in place when it is connected to the car and the car is locked.

Yes, the charging plug locks whilst charging. A safety requirement on all electric cars.

Interestingly, not on all electric cars. The Nissan EVs don't lock the cable
